This is MASSIVE. Dave Burd’s semi-biographic show ‘Dave’ has been picked up for another season. The first 10 episodes of season 1 was a roller coaster of emotion that took us through the come-up of Lil’ Dicky and his start as a rapper.
From free-styling for YG in the studio, starting a viral trend, the events that led to him opening for Meek Mill, signing with a music label, making friends with Kourtney Kardashian, or rapping for Charlamagne on The Breakfast Club – These are just some of the events that transpired around his rise and character arch on the show. And throughout those events it showed the human and comedic side of what he and his friends go through.
If you haven’t watched it yet – you really should. It’s a great comedy that also has an intriguing underlying plot line. Maybe the quarantine helped a little bit, but I am not surprised it is FX’s highest ever comedy. I think this is the best 30-minute TV show I have ever seen.
I’m just happy that this happened because while the pandemic could have played a small factor in the high viewership, the consistency in quality across the season should keep that audience. Also, I was scared that the pandemic could halt future productions for many shows on various networks.
Good for Dave. I can’t wait for the next chapter of this show. I hope he continue to create music and displays it in such a awesome way.
And just for the record, it’s never the wrong time to go down a rabbit hole of LD’s YouTube Channel. From his music videos to festival performances the dude is a legend.
